A guest-post on the Windows 7 Team Blog Chris Daniel, Product Manager for Software at NVIDIA, shows some interesting new features in Windows 7 focuses on the Graphics Processing Unit. Windows 7, Chris Daniel, offers more opportunities for GPU computing tasks for a better alignment. The DirectX technology in Windows 7, which essentially allows developers to use the parallel computing power of modern graphics cards.

Applications for the use of Windows 7 DirectX Akan enables high-quality video and high-performance transcoding, so that the new media scenario and extensive control over your media library. In this scenario, the computer is faster and better if the job you want.

Daniel mentions a concrete example. New technology can be used to copy and transcode video up to five times faster when the GPU is used in the process.

As an example of the benefits of real-world DX gives you the possibility to use parallel capability of the GPU for a significant reduction of time needed to manage your media files as opposed to only using the CPU only . The new software is designed to take advantage of this option, you can copy and transcode (convert video from one format to another – this is very complete tasks) for the film MTP supports portable media devices to 5 times faster than the GPU as a co-processor with the DX-way, compared with only the processing on the CPU.

Windows 7 users have the advantage of GPU accelerated video playback high, which in turn reduces the CPU load and provides smooth playback on many systems.

If you like movies, you will notice that Windows 7 is a new version of Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center-in-the-box support for GPU-accelerated playback of high definition H.264 video content of each. This is the best smooth, stutter-playing movies with low CPU utilization, the share of the CPU to concentrate on other tasks or to save energy.

Note that Nvidia and ATI graphics card with DirectX, I can in the future.
